Cost effective and environmentally clean technology available to provide space heating / cooling and thermal storage energy for residential and commercial buildings. Geoexchange systems provide significant emission reductions in both residential and commercial buildings. Studies show that residential fossil-fuel heating systems produce anywhere from 1.2 to 36 times the equivalent CO2 emissions of Geoexchange systems. The DOE has stated that significant emission reductions are available through Geoexchange systems in residential and commercial buildings.
Geoexchange systems are essentially heat pumps that collect and transfer heat from the earth through a series of pipes running into a building, where heat is concentrated inside, i.e.geothermal heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, water source heat pumps, earth energy systems or geothermal heating and cooling systems. Geoexchange systems do not create heat through combustions, they simply move heat from one place to another. Geoexchange systems also operate in reverse to cool a home by transferring the heat out of the building where the cooler ground absorbs the excess heat.
Every Geoexchange system has three major subsystems. A geothermal heat pump, which moves heat between the building and the fluid in the 'geothermal loops'. The 'geothermal loop', made of high density polyethylene pipe, for transferring heat between its fluid and the earth. And the distribution of heating or cooling to the building via forced air or radiant floor.
It has long been known that Ground Source heat pumps or 'Geoexchange' systems are the most cost-effective and environmentally clean technology available for providing space heating/cooling and thermal energy storage for buildings. Geoexchange systems have the lowest emissions among all heating and cooling equipment.
Other applications:
Geoexchange systems can also be used to provide:
· Domestic hot water heating
· Hot water supply for in-floor radiant heating systems
· Hot water supply for heating tubes in driveways to melt snow in winter
· Hot water supply hot tubs and pools
· Dehumidification
Cost Savings for homeowners:
Geoexchange systems are becoming the conditioning choice throughout Canada. as consumers learn more about its aesthetic advantages and long-term value, and as it becomes more widely available. Geoexchange systems save homeowners 30-70 percent in heating costs, and 20-50 percent in cooling costs, compared to conventional systems. Geoexchange systems also save money in other ways. They are highly reliable, require little maintenance, and are built to last for decades. They add considerably to the value of homes.
Energy Spotlight
Geoexchange systems are a smart investment for consumers who want a system that provides a high level of comfort and low monthly energy bills for as long as they own their homes.
Today, homeowners in all income brackets can take advantage of these benefits weather your are building a new or home or looking to replace or retro fit your existing heating system.
